Wendy Henrichs grew up in an Illinois river town as the youngest of four daughters. She knew by age seven that she wanted to be a writer and was often read to and encouraged by her three older sisters. Their home was a lively menagerie of dogs, cats, hamsters, parakeets, and even a chicken coop in the backyard. Her early love of animals remains present in her books and in-progress works, and Wendy feels strongly that children who learn empathy for animals will benefit throughout their lives. She lives in Iowa City, Iowa with her husband, two sons, two cats, and one amazing dog named Juno.

Although it took over 35 years for Wendy’s publishing dream to come true, she now knows that she has one of the greatest jobs on Earth.
